Ombudsman's office
This section provides information about the role and functions of the Ombudsman's office. |
In Australia, there is a Commonwealth Ombudsman as well as State and Territory ombudsman. The current Commonwealth Ombudsman is Professor John McMillan, who was appointed in 2003.
We consider and investigate complaints about Australian Government departments and agencies.
If you think you have been unfairly treated by an Australian Government agency you can complain to the Ombudsman.
We will give careful attention to your complaint about an Australian Government department or agency, and if it raises a matter that we can and should investigate, we will do so as quickly as practicable, acting fairly, independently and impartially.
Professor John McMillan was appointed Commonwealth Ombudsman in March 2003, and was reappointed in 2008 for a further five year term.
This section provides a summary of the establishment and history of the office. |
